What's a Chouette ?
One Player is "In The Box"
and plays against all comers.
If s/he wins s/he stays "In The Box."
Lose and the "Captain" takes over the box.
All Players have their own Doubling Cube.
If you've
not played for money before...
but it won't cost
you anything.
Every Player will be given
Bank of Backpacker Backgammon Bucks.
You play for a buck a point.
Lose all your bucks and you're out.
Money Play Rules will apply:
Automatic Doubles
(If both players roll the same number on the first roll of a game,
the stakes are to be doubled. This will apply on only the first roll. If
the same numbers are rolled on the second roll they will not be
carried over to the next game.)
Jacoby Rule
(Gammons and Backgammons
only count post cube action.)
Beavers
(When a player is doubled,
he may immediately redouble (beaver)
while retaining possession of the doubling cube.
The original doubler has the option of
accepting or refusing as with a normal double.)
Raccoons
(An immediate redouble by the player who just accepted a beaver.)
Backgammon-on-the-bar scores 5 point
(even is there has been no cube action).
Cubing
If the Box cubes he / she must cube all players on the first
cube only. Likewise if the Box is cubed he / she must accept or
decline all cubes on the first cube only.
The Chouette Corner will be in the YHA
Bar where smoking and drinking is the norm.
It will be open
from Friday 10.00 p.m. to Sun 6.00 p.m.
(But will be closed during the
Knockout and Swiss Tournaments)
The highest points winning Player
will win the
Chouette Trophy.
