but it's grow a bit bigger and slightly different
since then. |
The board we are making is very simple.
It is a Tea Towel with a backgammon board printed
on it. That gives you a board 60cms x 40cms on a
towel 80cms x 50cms. This makes it one of the
largest boards on the market, but it weighs very
little and folds down very small.
It can double as a towel and can be washed when
you spill a drink on it.

The design of the board is Celtic in black and
white. The outside boarder has a knot weave with
boxes in the corners. The centre bar has a plait
weave running along it.
The stones (pieces) are 2.5cms across and 6mm
high. They are made of a weighty marble effect
plastic. Large and heavy enough for you to throw
around the board. These are black and white or
red and white.
The 4 Dice are 16mm square and the Doubling Cube
is 18mm square. Large enough to throw with ease
and big enough to find after your move. These are
black on white or red on white

Backgammon is not the easiest game in the world
to learn. Many a novice has given up simply
because the rules take some time to learn. Rules
are often written in terms that experts can
understand but novices cannot. Our sets include a
"How to play the game" set of
instructions, there is a diagram of a laid out
board and "How to use the Doubling
Cube."
The set comes in a carry case - a cloth
pillowcase 22cms x 15cms x 3cms. For extra
protection we also enclose this in a re-sealable
plastic bag. The whole thing weighs only 240
grams Small and light enough to be one of the
items in a side pocket of a backpack.
