So where better to learn how to play backgammon!  The sunny south-side of Martinique in the French Caribbean.  Not really backpacker territory but a fine place to while away a few months backgammoning with your mates.  And despite some very bemused stares, our BBB set has come to the rescue on airport floors, railway platforms and a good few boxes at bus stops.  We think we've found our game of choice, teachable without a common language and playable in almost any state of conciousness.  But beware the white stones on your white sand beach; like lighters, they can slip in and out of our reality at will!

"Hey MMM, I think you've come up with a wonderful idea! The backpacker-backgammon set is very nicely made, including the stones and dice which have a nice feel to them. The actual playing board is huge but the entire kit folds up and fits into a small black bag (about 8" long and 6" wide). The whole package is very lightweight which makes it easy to throw in the glove compartment of your car, or in a suitcase, or even a purse. I'm sure I will be using it at the beach and on vacations for years to come. Thanks so much!"

Your board is seeing stirling service and here's a picture of me playing with a fellow traveller at Sihanoukville on the southern coast of Cambodia! I am now in Vietnam, after which I will head to the tournament in Pattaya, Thailand for early January.

I received my board today as my prize for the tournament.  I absolutely love it.  I cannot believe how small it folds up.  I am going to keep it right in my briefcase so when I have a free lunch, I can get someone to play with me.  It is very nice quality and I am going to enjoy playing on it for years.  Thanks again for your generosity and for the beautiful board.

The BG set finally arrived yesterday (Israeli postage I guess...) Unfortunately, the bathing season has more or less ended in Tel-Aviv so advertising your cool set on the beach will have to wait till May... Anyway, Its really nice and practical (wonder how I didn't think of it myself...
