1967 - Will and Mary Power
Reigning Doubles Backgammon Champions bet all their
savings to pay off debts run up by their son Peter.
In the Final match they were
pipped to the post by a mysterious couple who vanished
as soon as they had collected their winnings.
Some days later Peter found his
parents bodies at the bottom of a cliff near
their seaside home.
Riddled with guilt Peter runs
away but is never convinced of their suicide and
becomes obsessed with backgammon sure that this game
of chance holds the key to his parents death.
Returning late one night from a Tournament where he
felt he had made an important breakthrough he is
forced off a bridge by a lorry.
He and his car fall 200 feet and
land on a liner carrying nuclear waste.
The explosion of the car cause a
nuclear reaction which fuses him and his backgammon
board.
Transforming him into
GAMMON MAN.
His skin becomes leathery.
He can calculate pip counts,
dice scores and stats faster than a speeding bullet.
He can jump whole backgammon
boards in a single leap.
And when he gets angry checkers
fly from his mouth and ears.
Shunned by Western Society he
flees to a small Persian village where he learns
Arabian Kung Fu (from a camel)
But he can never forget the
image of his parents on the beach.
So he returns to Las Vegas to
seek out his parents killers and guard over gaming for
future players.
