It had been a while since we held the previous
T.T.T. but that's not to say we had been idle.
While Funcom had been having its "Stuck at
99%" problem we had written this Website for
T.T.T.s. We had previously posted up the
tournament details and rules on the Funcom
Bulletin Board. This made for a rather long
posting and players had had trouble finding the
information they needed.
We set the time slightly earlier at 9.00p.m. GMT
this time, hoping to catch the Europeans. I've
come to the conclusion that it would be far
easier if the whole world worked on the same
time. I'll have a word with God upstairs - She's
a good mate of mine and I'm sure she'll come
round to my way of thinking after a while.
The players were:
Odilon
A special guest
Lord-Mad
A previous Finalist of a T.T.T.
british-bulldog
1st time in a T.T.T. and new to Funcom
Scotslad
Ist time T.T.T. player
Hawke
'ello, 'ello, 'ello
Bachis
Ist time T.T.T. player
IZECREAM
Another 1st T.T.T. time player
Satin
A previous Winner of a T.T.T.
Bedfestar
Also a 1st time T.T.T. player
I worried slightly that with so many 1st time
players we might get flooded with questions, but
the Website seems to have done its job and there
were only one or two.
Lord-Mad got off to a fine start by winning his
very first match by a backgammon. 3 points. Lord
has proved himself a very capable T.T.T. player,
has played in every T.T.T. and has been a
previous finalist. Could this be his day ?
Satin, arrived a little late and asked if she
could still play. The first round of matches had
no yet finished and besides she had reserved her
place by e-mail, has helped out on and played in
every other T.T.T. Of course she could - we would
be in-complete without her ! Tradition was
maintained and she had to wait for her first
match. I lined her up a margarita (with lots of
salt as requested) but I've a feeling I forgot to
pass it down the line for a while.
Odilon was our first winner of a gammon. The
scene was being set. New to Funcom, Odilon is a
very experience 1 point player whos prowess I've
witnesses first hand. As long as he could handle
playing on a different server, I thought he would
do well.
We had a good few gammons: Bedfestar gammoned
Satin, IZECREAM gammoned british-bulldog, Bachis
gammoned Bedfestar, HAWKE gammoned Bachis, and
Odilon picked up a second gammon against
Scotslad. The top of the table was looking close.
At the other end of the table Scotslad wasn't
having to make winner reports to dttt, but was
still coming back for more punishment and said he
was enjoying himself. british-bulldog was doing
slightly better in between his games with
Jellyfish! Satin was knocking back the margaritas
and Bedfestar was demanding beers.
On the spectator front we had Cassie25, Jenie and
erv look in. I'd tried to cajole Jenie into
playing earlier, but she claimed she had got tied
up (!) Cassie, having got her drink, placed a
large tub of ice-cream on the table and handed
out spoons to all.
When the last match was finished, dttt, who was
our very capable Score Host, announced the
scores. We had a tie for first place. Odilon and
Lord-Mad on 8 ½ points. Bedfestar came very
close on 8 points. In accordance with the Tourno
rules we then moved to a play-off - same format.

You know how it is - you play and play and play,
nearly win but something happens and you don't
quite win the crown. Such is the history of
Lord-Mad in these T.T.T.s He's played in every
one, been a finalist in one and always been up
there amongst the leaders. And here he was again.
This time up against Odilon - one of the best
single point players I know. It was a fitting
final.
I'm too distraught for Lord-Mad to give a full
blow by blow report of the throws, takes and
manoeuvres that happened in that game, because
experience of what must thousands of single point
match won the match for Odilon. The Gent that he
is, Odilon said there was an element of luck in
there, but, hay, that's all part of backgammon !
Odilon, the Winner of T.T.T. 5 will
receive a
CONGRATULATIONS
on the Funcom Bulletin Board
Thanx to all those who came along.
Res secundae,
