The April 2003 Live Tric Trac Tourno
We had two new TTT Players - Viviana and Jonny. Viviana has been playing backgammon for years and years with family members but is now looking to broaden her horizons and Jonny was brought along by Live TTT regular John B having also been introduced to the Monday evening Knockout at The Fox Reformed. Keith was here to defend his Live TTT Current Champion, Mick here for the gammon prizes and though I'm not sure he'd admit it, I think he's hooked on TTTs, Stella was with us as usual because she enjoys TTT backgammon and MMM was going to play this evening because he won the Live TTT in April 2002 and wanted to Live TTT April 2003 trophy as well!
I'd stocked up on the miniature bottles for gammons and backgammon prizes and it was a good thing I had because this was to be the highest percentage rate gammon/backgammon TTT ever - 52.3% ! The previous record in this department was TTT53 which was 39% - however that was a 12 Player TTT.
The final scorecard does not tell the full story - there were, by half way through when we sat down to our Thai dinner, 44 Players that could very easily have won this TTT, but it turned out that it was Jonny who took away the trophy. Jonnt also joins an elite little group of Players who won all his matches in a TTT - I think there are now only 4 or 5 who have achieved this.
Live TTTs are now held once per month at Ryans Bar in Stoke Newington on the first Wednesday in every month.
